#firstimpressions

A few seconds. That is all it takes for someone to decide what they think of you. To form a first impression. Yes ladies- the reality is, We do judge a book by its cover. By definition, a first impression is the event when one person first encounters another person and forms a mental image or idea of that person. Impression accuracy of course varies depending on the observer and the person encountered.

Two new studies presented at the annual meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology in Texas, reveal that people both have a hard time getting over the first thing they perceived about someone, and that they’re actually pretty good at judging a book by its cover. Thus research suggests that a first impression- more often than not leads to a lasting impression people make of you. Employers, potential business partners, clients make of you.

The #firstimpressions project was inspired by you, our readers journeys into entrepreneurship and the successful business woman I come into contact with on a daily basis. I have always believed that surrounding yourself with like-minded people inspires, creates success and leads to results. So now you’re thinking, why post this article on the beauty page? Allow me to elaborate.

The beauty, hair and fashion industries are often perceived as very superficial and I feel the worth of its professionals is so often underestimated. Therefore we collaborated with six phenomenal business women for this project and treated them for a day together with our beauty, hair and fashion experts. With their quotes, photos, videos and testimonials of the day we will explore just how vital a first impression is in business and how these professionals can inspire and help you put forward the best YOU.

Keep an eye on our page for upcoming interviews, tips and inspiration.  I cannot wait to share all this exciting content with you, having gone through the process of branding myself with the super talented Petri and der Walt and Irma du Toit from CHEEKI FIG recently, I can testify that working on your #firstimpression is revolutionary!

Are you excited? You should be…
